  1. Yes. Survivalism is the unofficial action branch of WN. It’s not regarded as such though.

  2. I have spent roughly 200 dollars outfitting and enhancing the contents of my bug-out-bag. This, alongside around 400+ dollars on a 40 caliber glock pistol for self-defense.

For myself: residing in a heavily urban area, I’ve determined by best course of action would be quick evacuation to areas least likely to ensue in anarchy and violence. “Home-defense” is an extremely specious strategy for post-collapse survival unless one lives in a rural enough area and with fellow survivalists available to provide support.

Simply having a 4 walled home with a gun does not constitute a sound defense. First, available long term water and food supplies is questionable if the area is populated or contested (overly stocking in provisions merely makes one a target for emaciated and likely non-white and viscous looters). Secondly, any defense of a house in a suburban or urban environment will be near impossible: any intruder or mob, armed or not, could merely circumvent whatever lines of fire the defender possesses and simply burn the structure down.

Its really amazing how much one’s ability to survive in a collapse can increase by just procuring a few (and relatively inexpensive) precautionary items.
