William Pierce was immensely deep and worthy, and I think we all loved him. But he was very much the lone philosopher on the hill, who bonds with his adepts one by one as they enter his mountain fastness, but whose urgent work and solitary contemplations leave little time for the laughter, feasting, and ceremony that might prevent rifts.

One Winter when my wife and I came to visit him, a couple of years before I made the move to The Land, Dr. Pierce was utterly alone with the ravens in his snowy hills. There was no one else there. There was no community. All who had come had left. And his membership list, he said, was at an all-time low. He was gaunt, and I don’t think he was eating much.

He spoke of the 1960s, when he had just begun his political work, sending a copy of his intellectual journal to every member of Congress and to hundreds of officials and opinion leaders in Washington—with exactly zero response. And, after an initial shock and readjustment to reality, exactly zero discouragement too. It had been then that he had thrown down his coat, put on his gloves, and begun those 18-hour days that continued until Infinity reclaimed him.

William Pierce had a never-give-up spirit that was almost beyond understanding. It served him well. Its source, I think, was his deep belief that he was one of a very few men who fully understood the cosmic stakes of the fight for White survival, and that he had an absolute responsibility to strive without ending, no matter what the odds, to do his considerable part—a task that no one else could do for him—to win that fight.

Those stakes went far beyond the concerns to which he often appealed in his writings and broadcasts. Far more important than safe neighborhoods and lower venereal disease rates and decent schools was the evolving consciousness of the Universe, of which a small but inseparable subset of our race was the vanguard, and which might be snuffed out in an instant of cosmic time if organized Jewry had its way.

William Pierce died ten years ago today. Pierce was an immensely influential and intensely polarizing figure. But ten years should be long enough for passions to cool and reflections to ripen. Thus to commemorate his passing we are publishing several articles this week which, we hope, will encourage a greater appreciation of his contributions to White Nationalism.

Personal Reflections 

I first encountered William Pierce’s writings in 2000. I believe that I first heard his name in March in connection to Savitri Devi: As editor of National Socialist World, Pierce created an abridgement of The Lightning and the Sun for the first issue. In later issues, he published excerpts from Gold in the Furnace and Defiance.

Some time later, on April 22, 2000, I purchased The Turner Diaries and Hunter from Dent Myers at his Wildman’s Shop in Kennesaw, Georgia. Frankly, I found them repulsive, The Turner Diaries in particular. Pierce may have been inspired by National Socialism, but his model of revolution was pure Lenin and his model of government pure Stalin. If he had the power, he would have killed more people than Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot combined. He epitomizes everything about the Old Right model that I reject: one party politics, totalitarianism, terrorism, imperialism, and genocide. At the time, I remarked that as a novelist and political theorist Pierce was a first rate physicist.

William Pierce, the founder and head of the National Alliance, was a singularly important ideologist, organizer, and leader in the white nationalist movement.

His energy, commitment, drive, intelligence, and—given the sinister forces arrayed against us—accomplishments, are truly remarkable. Like George Lincoln Rockwell, David Duke, and a few others, he was a Superman. It is difficult to comprehend the powerful life force and capabilities such men incarnate.

Pierce was a prolific author. A collected edition of his writings, including personal correspondence and speeches, would run to many, many volumes.

Most of his enormous output was not in the form of books, however, but rather essays, articles, organizational guides, membership bulletins, speeches, correspondence, and weekly American Dissident Voices radio/Internet broadcasts.

His written work is thus highly fragmented, scattered, and not easily accessible in one or a few books. His enormous contribution to the cause of white survival will suffer greatly as a result, disappearing down the memory hole in relatively short order.

It is crucial that we build upon the past accomplishments of our best thinkers rather than continuously striving to reinvent the wheel every generation as people die, are murdered, jailed, or otherwise silenced.

There are five extended works by Pierce, two (or perhaps three) of which are effectively unavailable.

His two novels, The Turner Diaries (1978) and Hunter (1989).

A historical overview of the white race called Who We Are, originally published as a series of articles in National Vanguard tabloid (May 1978-May 1982) before it switched to magazine format.

This series has never been published in book form. Several years ago the National Alliance announced plans to issue such a volume, but it did not materialize. The series can be found in electronic format on a handful of websites. (See, e.g., the 225-page PDF version here and an HTML version here.)

As a consequence, Who We Are has probably been read by only a handful of people who followed every installment in the tabloid thirty years ago, and a few enterprising contemporaries inclined to read online books in an inconvenient electronic format. Of course, potential readers also need to know the book exists, and possess a desire to read it.

To these volumes must be added the underappreciated anthology The Best of Attack! and National Vanguard Tabloid, 1970-1982 (1984) compiled by former National Alliance member Kevin Alfred Strom. It is a fascinating, indispensable book that is historically significant and substantively engaging. Virtually the entire contents were written by Pierce, with the exception of a few major articles by Ted O’Keefe and others.

Unfortunately, the volume is out of print. A new copy currently sells for $258 on Amazon. Four used copies are more reasonably priced, ranging from $66-$133. A PDF copy of the book is available online, but the file is very large and difficult to read.

Finally, there is the National Alliance Membership Handbook, which is not publicly available.

Other than these works, Pierce’s vast output, which, though multifaceted, is nevertheless highly coherent, exists only in fragmented form. It is impossible to grasp holistically unless the reader is already thoroughly familiar with the man and his work—which, of course, most people are not.

These facts, coupled with Jewish and government obsession with the two novels, particularly The Turner Diaries, tend to give Pierce’s fiction a larger place in his oeuvre than it objectively warrants.

The Novels

Had I discovered his novels first, I doubt that I would ever have explored the main body of his work. Still, the novels are instructive.

First, they constitute an important element of Pierce’s overall production and are perhaps more widely known, possibly even more widely read, than the bulk of his work.

I do believe that the most important people who have been intellectually influenced by Pierce were primarily drawn to his other writings. The novels, however, were especially influential among radical activists.

Second, I was greatly surprised to discover soon after I read them how popular the books were. I would never have guessed that. Whites are psychologically very heterogeneous compared to Jews, who have been likened to a hive or, more flatteringly, a “herd of independent minds”—emphasis on herd.

Third, and most importantly, the novels provide a window into Pierce’s true psychology and values that cannot be obtained from his nonfiction, no matter how angry or violent the rhetoric sometimes is.

My initial reaction to the novels was puzzlement as to why the Jews and government wanted to censor them, or even close normal channels of marketing and distribution to them.

To me, the books were self-refuting. I naively assumed other readers would feel the same way. I thought the author had shot himself, and his cause, in the foot, so to speak.

I was certainly wrong about that. So that was a valuable lesson to learn as well.

The Banishment of Beauty

Here is an amazing four-part video series (43 minutes total and well worth the time) by the painter Scott Burdick. Don’t be put off by the fact that Burdick goes out of his way—way, way out of his way—to show traditional Western art, some of it his own, that depicts non-Whites. It’s as if he’s saying “see how non-racist I am,” to deflect attention from the fact the rising Art Underground he depicts is substantially Whiter than rural New Hampshire. He nevertheless masterfully skewers the modern art establishment and their hatred for beauty—and their literal banishment of it from their galleries, museums, and literature. With calm logic he analyzes the common characteristics of the paintings that are sought out by these culture-distorters, and those that they reject.

It isn’t abstract versus representational art—it isn’t nudity, or the human form or its absence—it isn’t fine-grained versus rough materials; none of these determine what is accepted and what is rejected. In the “intellectual” theories (with Jewish / Frankfurt School roots, though Burdick doesn’t say so) that must be internalized by anyone wishing to rise in the modern art world today, it is beauty itself that must be rejected and ugliness or nothingness which must be praised, especially if the artist pays obeisance to the “intellectuals” and their “theories.”

Are white nationalists cultural niggers?

Does it take an Iranian immigrant to the States to promote Westerners to realize this heritage?

Yesterday Greg Johnson did not let a comment of mine pass through in the comments section of an article titled “White Rock,” id est, rock for the white people. Well, I was not the author of that comment. I limited myself to copy and paste an article originally titled “Being White and Listening to ‘White Power’ Music” by Iranian for Aryans, published in 2004 but probably written in 2002:




Twice in recent weeks, Mr. Kevin Alfred Strom has inundated his American Dissident Voices listeners with White Power (WP) or Resistance Music. This is being touted as a new pro-White media, an “alternative” to Jewish anti-White Music.

Well, fellow Westerners of a common heritage—if there are any out there!—WP music is not and should not be thought as “White Music.” WP music has its roots in Rock ‘n’ Roll which in turn is a Jewish cacophony of ugly and bestial noise. Jazz, and Rock ‘n’ Roll are Jewish to the core, and WP music takes up these same tunes, thumps, and bangs and adds “pro-White” lyrics to it, trying to make a heap of dung into something worth fighting for. There is nothing beautiful about WP music.

If we need to get back to our European (and essentially Nordic, Aryan) culture, then we need to re-learn the past musical traditions. We need to re-invoke the Trinity: Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, in addition to others. These composers should not remain mere names to Whites who want to re-instill their lost heritage! These are names which should send shivers down one’s spine, which should make a man develop a feeling of mysterious, religious zeal and awe upon hearing just the names of these Titans.

Bach is the Soul of the West, his Mass in B-minor is a call to a Religious Awe felt for, traditionally, the God of the West.

Mozart is the earthly manifestation of the Divine Spirit, the joie de vivre, the music of sprightly Imps.

Beethoven is not a St. Bernard but the Overman of the West, the Eternal Fighter and Conqueror, the healthy and robust warrior of the Spirit of the Occident, a veritable Conan.

How can one—EVER!—listen to anything else when we still have this part of our heritage available to us and not outlawed? How can Mr. Strom play WP music when there are the Masters? Does it take an Iranian immigrant to the States to promote Westerners to realize this heritage? I listen to European Music day-in-day-out! It is my bread and butter! How can one listen to Dresden or Screwdriver with their numerous tattoos, shaved heads, and Nazi t-shirts when there is a plethora of composers that awaits discovery? How many of our people know about Palestrina, Buxtehude, and Purcell? What about Verdi, Leoncavallo, and Mascagni? May the Gods look favorably upon us, since culturally, we’re even inferior to “niggers.” At least blacks have their drum beats and their go-go music, while we—literally—ape them and if not, our “enlightened” White constituency and leaders, for the most part, fill this lack of true Western musical heritage with WP music. We know more about Max Resist than we do about Mussorgsky!

Be that as it may, let fairness reign. I admire the artwork on Mr. Strom’s webpage immensely. He has a great taste in the Romantic Art (Pre-Raphaelites, Bougeureau, et al.), but to serve two gods—one of Europe and the other of WP music—is, to me, unacceptable.

I, an Iranian by blood and birth, who fell in love with the majesty and creative ability bordering on the cosmic, of Nordic Man, had European Music as the impetus, the building-block, the diving-board for the development of a total, and uncompromising love for the White Race. Bluntly, I started loving the White Race mainly for its Musical creations. Ever since I started listening to Chopin and Bach back when I was twelve, I knew that there was something transcendental about this music, and hence, its creators. With the help of the correct books and personal, empirical interactions amongst blacks and other non-Whites, I developed a Weltanschauung that promotes the Goose that lays the Golden Egg. Readers, you know of what I speak.

Folks, if you call yourselves White, and care about your White heritage in more than just words, then get rid of the skinhead music, nay, ritually burn the WP music CDs, go to your public library, and soak up the European basic fare, such as the Bach Brandenburg concerti, Chopin etudes, Vivaldi concerti, Mozart symphonies, etc. Do it! We cannot afford to be cultural niggers. For no better reason, there is Heaven to be found in European Music. One cannot genuflect to two gods: it’s either Haydn or Hell!

I thank the few people who came to my support in this music debate concerning WP music and the traditional music of the West. I do not want to argue, but let me just reiterate that once one has listened to, understood, and loved the Masters, one can’t invoke Metallica, the Beatles or WP music. (Sorry, but Metallica drum beats point to their African heritage, and also, heavy metal’s spirit is one of dissolution, and consequently, was very much promoted by Jews.) This is a dichotomy that can’t exist in my mind.
