The Dark Enlightenment

Or:

Society is just as religious as ever it was

gerrit-dou-the-astronomer“The fundamental realization of the Dark Enlightenment is that all men are not created equal, not individual men, nor the various groups and categories of men, nor are women equal to men; that these beliefs and others like them are religious beliefs, that society is just as religious as ever it was, with an official state religion of progressivism, but this is a new religion, an evil religion…

The Dark Enlightenment does not propose that leftism went wrong four years ago, or ten years ago, but that it was fundamentally and terribly wrong a couple of centuries ago, and we have been heading to hell in a handbasket ever since at a rapidly increasing rate—that the Enlightenment was dangerously optimistic about humans, human nature, and the state, that it is another good news religion, telling us what we wish to hear, but about this world instead of the next.”

  1. We’re reaching the NWO end game… A federal EU is going to happen in a few years… This was their plan all along.

    • I don’t believe it. I believe that the economic Armageddon that will hit the world will happen sooner than that. In this decade probably.

  2. One of the founders of “neo-reaction” is a mischling operating under the title “Mencius Moldbug” (actual name Curtis Yarvin). He’s made several awkward attempts to dismiss Kevin MacDonald’s work despite admitting to how truthful it is. Food for thought.

The rest are an intellectual lot unified by three recurring themes: advocacy of monarchy, HBD, and philosophical critiques of modernity. National Socialism is often scorned by them as being too proletarian to be truly “rightist.” Their youthful anti-modernism is inspiring, however.

Overall, in my opinion, they’re better to borrow/recruit from than to join. This may change in the future.

    • Thanks for the info. I have never tried to inquire about these guys because of something I read in their site that didn’t like (don’t even remember what!). The above sentence is stunning though, and even that was not found by me. Rollory called my attention on it.

  3. Neoreactionaries primarily advocate a return to Monarchy, or some new format of Dictatorship (a CEO of the government). Absolutism. I love it. If you want to read more about Moldbug’s criticism of White Nationalism, check this out…

and the link to a compilation ofMoldbugs writings. (it’s dense and lengthy but rewarding.)

    • The first link has issues (the other is a collection of more links). Author says in first link above that he’s not an anti-Semite. Obviously he hasn’t read MacDonald’s trilogy or even the best essay of Pierce about Jews (linked on the sidebar of this blog). Yes: author mentions MacDonald in his article on why he’s not an anti-Semite but doesn’t seem to actually have read him.

Author claims that Auster and Fjordman are good authors to understand WN. That’s just silly as Auster was a Jew and Fjordie a half-Jew (again see the posts on them in this blog).

By the by, I am not a WN but a NS. WN is a rather weak movement compared to what Commander Rockwell and Pierce envisaged for a real white awakening in their country.

And… the article you linked is terrible:

“Why does white nationalism strike us as evil? Because Hitler was a white nationalist, and Hitler was evil. Neither of these statements is remotely controvertible.”

Has the author reviewed some of the literature linked on my sidebar under the heading “On the need to undemonize Hitler” (just click on the Hitler image at the right of this comment)? I guess no: Because that’s a 2007 article and some of the pieces linked on my sidebar are much more recent.

  4. I’ve made a quibcag out of your post here. Do use it however you like, of course. It’s here:

    • Cool, and thanks for the linked video:.
